Stain Removal

General

  1. For fresh stains, gently blot the area with a clean paper towel. Make sure the surface underneath is protected. For dry stains, softly brush the spot to remove any loose residue. Do not use stain removers.
  2. Turn the garment inside out and run cold water through the back of the stain. Avoid rinsing from the front, since this can push the stain deeper into the fabric.
  3. Turn the garment right side out again and carefully blot the stain with a clean paper towel.
  4. Apply a light mix of equal parts detergent and warm water. Massage the stain with small circular motions, working from the outer edges toward the center.
  5. Blot the stain once more.
  6. Rinse and repeat the process if needed.
  7. Wash the garment following the instructions on the care label.

Wax and Gum

  1. Allow the garment to dry or place it in the freezer so the wax or gum becomes firm enough to lift off with a spoon.
  2. For wax stains, place paper towels on both sides of the fabric and gently run a warm iron over it without steam. This helps draw the wax into the paper. Do not leave the iron in one spot for too long.
  3. Follow the general stain removal instructions afterward.
